Prior to his return to consulting, Bernard served as CEO of CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital, a 240 bed acute care facility located in Lake Charles, LA.  He led operations of the market which included the hospital, employed physician practices, PHO and wellness partnerships with 35 large employers totaling 18,000 employees.  Bernard joined CHRISTUS St. Patrick Hospital as Chief Financial Officer and successfully completed a $9M hurricane business interruption claim as well as a successful conversion of the hospital information system from McKesson to Meditech. 

Bernard has spent the past 30 years in healthcare finance and operations, having worked for both large and small organizations in the for-profit and not for profit settings.  Prior to joining CHRISTUS, he was a Chief Financial Officer with IASIS Healthcare where he was responsible for two acute care facilities in Southeast Texas that were eventually merged into a newly constructed $160M replacement facility.  Bernard was responsible for developing the financial projections necessary for board approval of the project and also worked with the local senior team to consolidate the  operations of the two existing hospitals prior to completion of the replacement facility.  He was also involved in the successful syndication of the new facility with physician partners.
 
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1990 from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA and became a Certified Public Accountant in Texas in 1994.
 
Bernard is a native of Southwest Louisiana and currently lives in Lake Charles.  When he is not providing consulting services, Bernard is a partner in Leger Brothers Farming which has continued the family hay farm operations.
