With more than 30 years of executive leadership experience, Bernard has successfully led acute care hospitals and healthcare systems through growth, organizational transition, financial stewardship, physician alignment, service-line expansion, and operational improvement. His leadership experience spans permanent executive appointments and interim assignments, allowing him to quickly assess organizational priorities, establish alignment among key stakeholders, and deliver sustainable operational and financial results.
Throughout his career, Bernard has served as Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and healthcare consultant for organizations ranging from 120 to 350 bed acute care hospitals. He has also guided healthcare organizations through acquisitions, executive transitions, regulatory improvement initiatives, and complex operational challenges while maintaining a strong focus on patient care, workforce engagement, and financial performance.
As a seasoned healthcare executive, Bernard brings a balanced perspective that integrates strategic leadership with financial discipline, operational excellence, and long-term organizational sustainability. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1990 from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA and became a Certified Public Accountant in Texas in 1994.

Bernard is a native of Southwest Louisiana and currently lives in Lake Charles with his wife Lesley. They have two adult children who reside in Houston, Texas. When he is not providing consulting services, Bernard is a partner in Leger Brothers Farming which has continued the family hay farm operations.
